BIO

My name is Darrian Warren but friends and associates call me Dee. I am an Army veteran and an undergraduate out of the University of Nebraska Omaha.  My Bachelor's is in journalism and mass communications with a minor in Black history and Black studies.  I have always had a passion for history, news, and music, and I feel that we process information more effectively when supplemented with a good soundtrack. As a result, I'm a Disc Jockey in addition to being a reporter.  To me, turntablism and journalism go hand in hand.  I initially got into journalism because I've always thought it was important being aware of what was happening around me.  My work and studies primarily focus on educating, helping, and giving a voice to those in the Black community while telling their stories.  In addition, I've been involved in the Black American reparations movement and have been focused on securing reparations for Black American descendants of slavery along with combating racism and white supremacy in all areas of society.  I believe journalism is integral to this task and it is part of the reason I believe it is critical to our society.
